Take me home... in Turkyie... :)

My husband is one of those wonderful dears.
I've been homesick lately, not too much, but a little bit.
The day before Thanksgiving he took me to a Turkish restaurant. :)

I'm not Turkish. But I grew up with one. Kind of.
My best friend's parents are Turkish, her mom still barely speaks French (after more than 30 years). We were neighbor for years. When they moved in next door I was 5 years old, my friend was 6. We would built cabanas on both side of our gardens fences.. :) My parents and I moved when I was 18 years old. That's about 13 years!
I would go to her house at least 3 times a week, and stay till sunset. Drink cai, out of those wonderful double story teapot that I can't find here... We watched clips on tv of "open" turkish women . Open is not a sexual caracteristic, it's all about clothes. Either you "close" with a scarf, or you're open, anything between just no scarf and dyed hair with miniskirt.
We would clean up ("picking up the house")and cook, and eat ;)
Anytime I go visit my friend we still cook, talk about women emancipation and drink tea. Loads of tea (lemon-no-sugar).

I miss my country, but I also meet my friends, especially Nazmyie.
I also miss the cosy, simple atmosphere of her house, with carpets all over the living room and deliciousness cooking in the round oven..

Wednesday Phil took me to a turkish restaurant, we ate some ana yemekler (good mum cooking) with slow cooked lamb, stuffed cabbage and of course lots and lots of homemade yogurt.. :)
I feel better. :)
