It is late, but still Saturday.
I went back to the Field museum today with Mr L. There was a lecture about the labrador duck. It was very interesting and entertaining. The labrador duck is extinct. But if you come across a stuffed one (museum collection specimens that disappeared during the past century) you can get a 10 000 $ reward.
I'd love to go on a trip in Canada or Iceland and come across one, alive. I can imagine Mr L. making noises to get close :) Just thinking about it makes me laugh!
So yeah, I day dream of ducks waggling on iced landscapes...
With the library museum pass this was my second time to the Field museum. It is quite far (almost 2h to get there!) but SO worth it.
We finally found the insects today. But they were more there to show how old collections looked like than for education about insects. I'll need to go back.
After the museum we went to Chinatown for Pekin duck (no pun intended! we planed the duck before we came across the lecture!). The chinese food was good, but I didn't handle it very well, too greasy, too much sugars and oyster sauce everywhere... I guess I got used to real good vietnamese food in our cheap and excellent spot in Manhattan. I don't think I'll eat chinese food again anytime soon.
Tomorrow we may go see animals at paws, cats and dogs. A little cat would be great! I am not ready for a dog just yet. Warming up to the idea is one thing, but you don't go from extreme phobia to dog lover in one day (or one year!) so, one step at a time. My current step is "can be in the same room" which is already a great progress for my everyday life. :)
I talked to my parents today, they were coming back from their getaway to St Malo and Mount St Michel. My parents are so cute. Married for almost 25 years. My sister and I have to make something nice for their upcoming anniversary (July 12th).
that will be it for today... more on Mary's blog.

Thanks for playing along. I love the Field Museum. But I used to love the Acquarium more when I was a kid. The last time I was there it was too noisy, so not my favorite anymore. The Art Institute is where I would go if I went up to Chicago for the day though.
